End-of-Quarter Salsa Social
On Wed, December 3 (today) there will be a free salsa social so that people can practice the moves they learned during the quarter. We will be in Winnett Lounge from 6:30pm onwards. Support sustainability by bringing a cup for getting water from the dispenser. See you there!

Sustainability
In accordance with recent drives from the Graduate Student Council (GSC) and Caltech as a whole, the Caltech Salsa Club is going to endorse the sustainability movement by reducing the usage of disposable drinking materials at classes.
Predominantly, this means that we will provide water in large dispensers, but we will not be providing disposable cups. We recommend that you bring your own nalgene or other reusable bottle to dispense water into.

King King yesterday
Yesterday a large group of people from the Caltech salsa club visited King King for an evening of fun Cuban salsa dancing. We arrived after the Casino de Rueda lesson which lasts from 9-10pm and is highly recommended for anyone interested in learning rueda and cuban salsa dancing. King King has a DJ followed by a live band. The group this week played great Cuban salsa and came all the way from San Francisco - Jesus Diaz Y Su QBA. If you are interested in escaping from Caltech and spending some evenings dancing with us at salsa clubs, join the social mailing list by going to:

NEW instructors, NEW summer classes
The summer series of L.A. style salsa classes begins on June 18th in Dabney Hall, and the club is excited to announce that Arlene Santos and Francisco Bugarin from SalsAFeroz Dance Company will be instructing both the beginner and intermediate series. Both series run for eight weeks on Wednesday evenings. It is recommended that dancers in the beginner class try and attend regularly, as material is built upon each week. We hope you will join us for a fantastic summer of salsa dancing!

Help save salsa at Paseo Colorado!
As you know from last year, Paseo Colorado had one of the largest Salsa events throughout the summer. It was very successful and many of our friends were looking forward to having it again this year. We need to have our friends contact them to bring it back on a regular basis.
Paseo is starting up on July 11th with Swing every Friday and Salsa only ONCE in July and August. We need to have everyone call, write and fax them and have them put Salsa back or at least alternate Swing and Salsa to make it fair. Since the floors are already up then only thing they need is a band. We can find someone to teach. Pasadena Ballroom who ran the event is not a Salsa studio and very into Swing so they kept Swing in at Paseo.

This is who we need to have all of our friends contact:
*
Michael De Leon, General Manager
Mike Horn, Operations Manager II
Jodi Taylor-Zens, Director of Marketing
Paseo Colorado

Pasadena, California 91101

I spoke to Jodi and she said they had a budget cut but Swing is still on every Friday? A fair suggestions would be to alternate the two. She had me call a person named Paul about the agenda.
Paul owns and operates the Jazz Institute in the Paseo. He booked the bands and ran drink cart next to the dance floor and told me that the Swing nights sold $500 and Salsa nights sold $1400. He said that he subsidized the event last year and I have not confirmed that yet?
Jodi also told me that there were 4000 people there for Salsa. Impressive numbers. Some of our friends were spending big $$$$$ there. One person bought two Coach purses for $1000 one night, so people were buying there.
Please pass this email on so we can get Salsa back at Paseo.
Let's contact them and see if we can get them to change their agenda.
